14 days to event update

The course is ready.  It is beautiful and the leaves are beginning to turn.

Roughly 75 riders have joined the facebook or emailed drew@cyclocarbon.com to express their interest in riding.  The registration continues and anyone who shows up on the 5th will be allowed to ride.

We start at 9 am from Sylvan Park right in Lanesboro.  The city representative I spoke to stated they did not care where we parked and I do not anticipate there being any issue finding parking in the lot at the park or along the street nearby.  Camping is available in the park and would be awesome.  Maybe ride down to Burdey's Cafe for breakfast and a bit of a warm up.  I hope I can make that work myself, but can't yet commit.

The final route will be very close to 65 miles long.  I had to make a couple of minor changes due to construction and plan to ride one more time in order to get the cues and GPX/CRS files just right.  Expect a post with those completed files soon.

There will be water and some treats at mile 41.  Bring something to the start potluck style and Kim will drive it down to the "checkpoint".

After the ride we will grill and hang out.  It's always nice to keep people around after these events to talk with the other riders and Sylvan Park is an ideal place for this.  I will cart my gas grill down and bring hamburgers and brats to serve 20 or so people.  I will not have enough for everyone.  If you plan to stay, and I hope you do, please throw something in a cooler and leave it in your car while we ride.   The stuff from the checkpoint will also be at the finish.

Hope to see you Sunday morning.

Quick Update

This continues to roll forward.  I've spoken to a representative of the city/parks department.  Everything is a go in that regard.

I have been out on portions of the route numerous times and continue to be very excited.

Hope you will join us.

2014 Tour of Filmore October 5th 9 am

65 miles of fall classic.  After the Almanzo Gentleman's ride and before the Filthy 50.  Totally free.

This is a beautiful and challenging route with serious hills and incredible scenic valleys.  There will be a water station on the route as well as a place to refuel if necessary.

We will ride from  Sylvan Park at 9 am with registration from 8-8:45.

CRS routes for Garmin, GPX and cue cards will all be made available for download/printing no later than October 1st.

Will do something to keep everyone together and share some food and drink after the ride, most likely a BBQ.

Registration is open now and will remain open unless we hit 150 riders.  If 150 riders has not been hit before the day of ALL riders who show up will be allowed to ride.  I do not expect that many people-  I do expect that everyone who does ride will have an incredible time.

Want in?   email drew@cyclocarbon.com  or join up on Facebook.

I ride in this area a lot and will be updated over the summer with more pictures of the course-  stay tuned.
